HD-KOTE is a polyester-based one-coat powder system engineered for superior corrosion and UV resistance. Its compatibility with standard pretreatment enhances production efficiency and lowers costs. HD-KOTE can be formulated with improved hardness (.IH) to add toughness and reduce the impact of wear, friction, scratches, etc. Coated products will require less packaging and will better resist damage during assembly, transport, or usage.
To guarantee their quality, these HD-KOTE.IH coatings are subjected to a series of rigorous tests. One significant test is the Taber Abrasion Test (ASTM D4060), which effectively measures the hardness of materials. The coated panels endure 2,000 abrasion cycles with two weights of 1,000 grams. After completing the cycles, the weight loss is recorded in milligrams and compared to the initial value. For PE54, the weight loss is 130 mg, while for PE54.IH shows only 39 mg of weight loss. These findings illustrate a remarkable 60% reduction in coating wear attributed to our enhanced hardness feature.
